From the recording Second Chances

This song is about moving on from hard things in life, deflecting on moderation and absence from alcohol, to take time to reflect on life.
Hanging out with a disabled veteran buddy, focused on family and healing from the past. He, like many others, is thinking back on a life of love. Once we move on we are never the same, we often think back to those we've loved thinking, "I wish you could see me now".

Lyrics

WERE NEVER THE SAME
D Gx2 A chorus Bm E Maj x2 C G D

Once you walk away, things are never the same. It’s hard to shake this pain
just another sad song we all sing.
Its now quarter to three & I can’t seem to think, too early have a drink
what I wouldn’t do to change this scene

Chorus
Can you hear me now?
I’m crying out loud
Can you hear me now?
For crying out loud
Ooh… we’re never the same….x2

Coffee & Ice tea keep me out a the bar scene, wish you could see me now.
Living through these ups & downs,
Love is a powerful thing
worth more than any damn diamond ring
Once you walk away
just another sad song we all sing.

Chorus
Can you hear me now?
I’m crying out loud
Can you hear me now?
For crying out loud
Ooh… we’re never the same….x2
